An evening at the Quilon

On Tuesday 26th July Fuller’s Head Brewer John Keeling, award winning beer writer Pete Brown and Head Chef Sriram Aylur held a unique beer and food matching evening at the Michelin-starred The Quilon restaurant in London.


The event held for invited guests only was a sell-out, with only 30 places available but I’m pleased to report that a number of our Fine Ale Club members managed to secure themselves seats at this exclusive event.

The five course dinner was expertly matched to Fuller’s beers by John and Sriram during a tasting session earlier in the month (oh to be a fly on THAT wall) with each course using two different beers to demonstrate the different approaches to beer and food pairing.

With a beer list including Past Master XX Strong Ale AND Past Masters Double Stout, the gathered guests were in no doubt they were witnessing something special – and to cap it all off, Sriram wheeled out some thing a little extravagant from his restaurant’s beer list – Fuller’s Vintage Ale 1999, served in a Martini glass!

We are delighted that such a renowned chef is flying the flag for British beer and I’d love to hear from Club members who were present.
