Fuller’s ESB was launched into the Fuller’s family in 1971, and the beer
made quite an impact, not only was it one of the strongest regularly brewed
draught beers in the country at the time, it was also one of the tastiest.
The awareness and popularity soon began to grow
and in 1978 ESB won the first of its three CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain
awards, which is more than any other beer of its style. Many more awards have
been bestowed upon the beer over the years, including International Beer
Champion and World Beer Awards amongst others, so much so that we fondly refer
to the beer as quite simply, the champion ale.
